Microsoft Azure big data services are gaining demands, and companies are focusing to build intelligent system using Azure platforms. Organization implementing or implemented cloud computing solutions shared certain consideration or learning’s. While moving to this new technology it is important to re-consider learning’s and ensures quick, efficient and seamless deployment or development of applications to cloud computing environment. This section covers the highlighted considerations and list of outcome of such experiences. Capability offerings includes storage, analytics, machine learning, and cognitive services. Additionally, enterprises can access applications from big data and advanced analytics partners in the Azure Marketplace.

But before getting started, use this list of terms to get acquainted with Microsoft Azure big data services:

1. SQL Azure Database

Microsoft SQL Azure is a cloud database service built on Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform, SQL Azure enables organizations to store relational data in the cloud and quickly scale the size of their databases up or down as business needs change. SQL Database allows users to make relational queries against stored data, which can either be structured or semi-structured, or even unstructured documents.

2. SQL Data Warehouse

Azure SQL Data Warehouse is a cloud-based, scale-out database capable of processing massive volumes of data, both relational and non-relational. Built on our massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture, SQL Data Warehouse can handle your enterprise workload. SQL Data Warehouse is an elastic scale, fully managed, petabyte-scale columnar data warehouse service, fully compatible and integrated with the SQL Server ecosystem. It also connects to Microsoft’s Azure Machine Learning libraries and Azure Data Lake.

3. Azure Redis Cache
Azure Redis Cache is a cloud service based on the popular open-source Redis cache. Redis is popular for its support of high performance data types, on which you can perform atomic operations such as appending to a string, incrementing the value in a hash, pushing to a list, computing set intersection, union and difference, or getting the member with highest ranking in a sorted set. It gives you access to a secure, dedicated Redis cache, managed by Microsoft and accessible from any application within Azure.

Note: As per last announcement (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-managed-cache-and-in-role-cache-services-to-be-retired-on-11-30-2016/), Azure Managed Cache Service and Azure In-Role Cache service will be retired on November 30, 2016. Recommendation is to use Azure Redis Cache.

4. Azure Data Lake Store
Azure Data Lake Store is an enterprise-wide hyper-scale repository for big data analytic workloads. Azure Data Lake enables you to capture data of any size, type, and ingestion speed in one single place for operational and exploratory analytics. Azure Data Lake Store can be accessed from Hadoop (available with HDInsight cluster) using the WebHDFS-compatible REST APIs. It is specifically designed to enable analytics on the stored data and is tuned for performance for data analytics scenarios. Azure Data Lake includes all Big Data compositions including Spark, R, Giraph, Storm and Solr.
